Morocco-Lebanon, Politics, 5/26/2000
Moroccan premier, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, termed the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon as "great victory for the Lebanese people."
In a congratulations message to Lebanese peer, Salim Al-Hoss, Youssoufi voiced the Moroccan government's pride and congratulations for the "great victory" of the Lebanese people, following the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces.
"Thanks to the resistance of its people and its faith in its fair cause, Lebanon has shown that determination in claiming its rights is the most efficient means to restore legitimacy," Youssoufi said, adding that Lebanon's victory has rekindled hope for all the peoples struggling to recover their right to unity and dignity.
Morocco, its King, government and people share the joy of the Lebanese people, which celebrates its victory in the battle of liberation and unity, he said, adding that Morocco also hails the return of detainees, expatriates and displaced Lebanese.
The Kingdom of Morocco voices, on this occasion, hope that the Israelis will also withdraw from the Golan and from all occupied Arab and Palestinian territories, the Premier added.
