Tunisian businessmen want strong Moroccan- Tunisian trade
Tunisia-Morocco, Economics, 5/26/2000

A leading Tunisian businessman on Thursday called Morocco and Tunisia to foster economic and cooperation ties.

The volume of investments and trade between the two Maghreban states is still short of their privileged political ties, head of the Tunisian Industry, Commerce, and Handicraft Chamber, Hedi Djilani, told MAP bureau in Tunis.

Commercial exchanges between the two states do not exceed $ 100 million, he deplored, urging Moroccan and Tunisian investors to foster mutual trust and be more daring.

For Djilani, the strong ties between Rabat and Tunis entitle them to endeavor positively towards the activation of the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA). The Union should be developed into a strong economic grouping, he said.
