Bill instituting ombudsman before parliament this year

Moroccan minister for the government general affairs, Ahmed Lahlimi, announced in Rabat on Thursday that a draft law creating an ombudsman institution in Morocco is under study and will be submitted to the parliament in the course of this year.
The minister who made the announcement during a meeting with Spanish ombudsman (defender of the people), Fernando Alvares Dimilanda, said an expert committee, reporting to the prime minister, has finalized the draft regulating "Al Wassit" institution.
The Spanish official praised Morocco's experience in human rights protection and promotion and political reforms and stressed that the ombudsman institution plays a vital role in consolidating democracy and the rule of law.
