Jordanian King visits Washington to discuss ME peace

Jordanian King Abdullah II on Thursday started a tour which will last for two weeks and leading him, in particular to the US where he will hold talks with US President Bill Clinton dealing with latest developments in the ME peace process.
A Jordanian official source said that King Abdullah and Queen Rania left Amman heading for London where they were due to spend Thursday and then on Friday will start a two-day visit to Iceland's capital.
During this visit, the Jordanian King will hold talks with high ranking officials in Iceland concentrating on " boosting bilateral relations and building economic relations between the two countries." In this respect the King will meet with businessmen from Iceland.
On Saturday King Abdullah will head in a visit which will last until June 8 to the USA where he will be meeting with the US President Bill Clinton and discuss with him " means of backing the peace process on all tracks as well as means of backing US-Jordanian bilateral relations in all fields especially on the economic areas." Jordan receives the greatest portion of foreign aids from the US. US total military and economic aids rendered to Amman is estimated at US $ 275 million annually.
The Jordanian King will acquaint the Americans with the privileges given by Jordan to foreign investors.
King Abdullah will also meet in New York with the UN Chief Kofi Annan.
King Abdullah's last visit to the US was in October 1999.
