The United Nations food and refugee agencies today said they continued efforts to provide urgent humanitarian aid to arriving Eritrean refugees in Sudan, where more than 20,000 people had been registered over the past week. Citing Eritrean officials, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said 20,000 to 40,000 people had left their homes and were scattered along the Eritrean border prepared to move into Sudan if the fighting worsened, A UN statement said.
