Sudan-China, Economics, 5/24/2000
Sudan has concluded two contracts totaling $ 17 million with China for the purchase of power engines and irrigation water pumps.
Under the first contract China will provide Sudan with 40 electric power engines worth $ 9 million, a release from the ministry of finance in Khartoum said Tuesday.
The engines, each with a daily output of 1 megawatt, will be installed in different parts of the country.
Under the second pact, Beijing will provide Khartoum with 256 irrigation water pumps valued at $ 8 million to boost agriculture in some parts of the country.
The Chinese Export and Import Bank will finance the deals, which were signed in Beijing during a recent visit by the minister of finance, El Zubair Ahmed El Hassan.
