Barak calls on President al-Assad to return back to negotiations

The Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am quoted the Israeli daily Yadhout Ahronout issued on Tuesday as saying that the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has sent a message to President Hafez al-Assad including an appeal to return back to the negotiation table.
The Kuwaiti paper explained that the message was conveyed last week to President Hafez al-Assad following a meeting held between the chairman of the security and political commission at Barak's office Dani Yatoum with the Russian foreign minister Igore Ivanov in Moscow last week.
The paper added that Yatoum told Ivanov that Israel is serious in its intention to reach peace with Syria and that the opportunity still exist.
Yatoum said with regret that just few hundreds meters around Tibries lake should not obstruct the realization of an agreement.
The paper Kuwaiti paper indicated that the impressions of the political sources which read these statements says that Barak is interested in resuming the Syrian track. These sources expressed its conviction that despite the troubled atmospheres concerning the chances to resuming negotiations with Damascus, yet there is a possibility for a rapid move between the two countries.
