Children's parliament holds 2nd session may 23-27
Morocco, Culture, 5/23/2000
The children's parliament will hold its 2nd national session in Rabat this May 23-27 under the chairmanship of Princess Lalla Meryem.
The session will discuss the draft charter of the child's parliament and the question of child and mother medical care.
Promotion of solidarity culture among children and the contributions they can make to Morocco's bid to host 2006 world cup are also on the agenda.
The child's parliament, a unique experience in the Arab world, is a forum of meetings and exchanges and an opportunity for children to express their opinion and propose solutions.
The institution is composed of pupils representing the same constituencies as those represented in the adults parliament. 6% of the parliament members are handicapped children, 4% deaf-mute children. Four children represent pupils attending foreign schools in Morocco and 6 members represent students of vocational training centers and children of the Moroccan community living abroad.
