Prime minister meets Mediterranean agriculture ministers
Morocco, Agriculture, 5/23/2000

Moroccan Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi Met Tuesday in Rabat with agriculture ministers of the member countries of the international center of Mediterranean High Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM).

Youssoufi dwelt on the resumption of the multilateral negotiations on agriculture in Geneva. He noted, in this connection, that the agenda worked out by the World Trade Organization on the liberalization of agricultural exchanges coincides with the one prepared within the Euro- Mediterranean frame. He cited the case of Morocco whose association accord with the European Union provides for a reconsideration of agricultural exchanges.

Youssoufi underscored the fact that the Mediterranean countries have complementary agriculture in terms of production, investments and outlets.

The meeting was attended by agriculture ministers of Albania, Algeria, Greece, Italy, Malta and Portugal.
