Egypt-Morocco, Economics, 5/23/2000
The Moroccan and Egyptian trade chambers passed Sunday evening six cooperation agreements meant to consolidate trade exchanges between the two states.
The federation of Moroccan trade and industry chambers concluded an accord with the general union of Egypt's trade and industry chambers while a second accord launched the Moroccan- Egyptian investment and development association. The latter grouping 150 investors from both countries will soon initiate two projects worth $ 20 million setting up a fish-canning plant in Casablanca and a ready-to-wear unit at Port Said.
Other cooperation protocols were signed between trade chambers of Cairo and Rabat, Oujda and Alexandria, Nador and Port Said, Marrakesh and Buhaira.
Both sides underlined the need for wider cooperation and adopted a set of measures to ease trade flows, expand cooperation to customs, services, standards and set up more trade missions.
