Foreign Minister al-Shara talked on the telephone with Annan

Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on Monday received a telephone call from the UN Aecretary General Kofi Annan. The UN chief acquainted al-Shara with the efforts being exerted at the UN to discuss the report submitted by the UN special envoy to the ME region Terry Larsen on the stances of the parties concerned. The UN chief appreciated Syria's backing for Lebanon and for the UN to facilitate its mission in ending the Israeli occupation of South Lebanon.
Al- Shara' renewed Syria's constant backing for Lebanon, its just demands and the need of Israel's implementation of UN resolutions concerning the Arab- Israeli conflict.
