UNIDO supports women's industrial projects in Sudan
Sudan, Culture, 5/22/2000
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has earmarked $ 600,000 in support of women's industrial projects in Sudan.
UNIDO regional director for the Middle East, Mohammed El Nawawi, said at a press conference in Khartoum Sunday, the organization will also support programs aimed at eliminating health hazards resulting from cement dust at the Atbara Cement Factory, about 200 km north of Khartoum.
Villagers in the vicinity of the factory often complain that the cement dust posed a serious health hazard for them.
Farmlands and domestic animals have also come under threat from the dust, they said.
