King Mohammed flies to Egypt

King Mohammed VI of Morocco arrives in Cairo today on his first visit of its kind to an Arab states since he took over last July.
President Mubarak will be on hand to welcome the Moroccan guest.
Immediately upon arrival, both leaders hold a meeting to discuss developments of the peace process and the results of the latest Africa-Europe summit held in Cairo last April, a number of Arab, African and Islamic issues as well as ways of boosting joint cooperation between Egypt and Morocco in the various fields.
The two leaders will preside over the meetings of the fourth session of the joint higher Egyptian- Moroccan committee, which will focus on ways of expanding economic and commercial cooperation.
The committee meetings will witness the signing of six new agreements on cooperation in the fields of housing, new urban communities, environment protection, harbors, roads and increasing the list of commodities annexed to free trade exchange agreement and cooperation between the two states foreign ministries.
Foreign Minister Amr Moussa submitted a report to President Mubarak on preparations for the joint committee meetings. The report refers to aspects of cooperation in many sectors such as services, tourism and trade.
The report shows that trade exchange does not rise to the level of strong political relations between the two countries.
The Foreign Minister welcomed the visit to Cairo by the Moroccan king saying it would deepen cooperation and understanding between both countries. Moussa said he would meet with his Moroccan counterpart for consultations on the peace process and the situation in North Africa.
The economic aspect of the visit assumes a special significance as preparations for the committee meetings underlined the need for boosting this aspect.
King Mohammed VI will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Industry, trade, Housing and 100 Moroccan businessmen who will have meetings with their Egyptian counterparts on expanding joint investments.
