Mubarak El-Mahdi: Garang did not exert efforts to support the Egyptian - Libyan initiative

Mubarak El-Fadel El-Mahdi, the official of the foreign affairs in the Sudanese Umma party stated in press declaration yesterday that the Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir has a historic chance to move Sudan to democracy and peace.

He expressed belief that if Bashir acted in such a manner then the political forces would reward him for this position by the renewal for him to be a president for a transitional period.

He added that Bashir's last message for chief of the unionist party Mohammed Ossman El-Merghani who also heads the opposition alliance proved that Bashir and his government are taking a a wait-and-see attitude at a time when the other side is talking about demands. He stated that Sudan is in crisis and it will not solve its problems by just speaking of good intentions or making declarations to newspapers, saying that Garang - chief of the Sudan Public Liberation Army did not exert efforts now that assure of his support to the Egyptian - Libyan initiative and he did not show any flexibility in dealing with it.
