Diplomatic talks between Egypt and Malta

The formal talks session between Malta and Egypt took place at the headquarters of the Egyptian foreign ministry in which the Egyptian side was headed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa while the Maltian side was headed by counterpart Joseph Borg.
Following the meetings, Moussa said that they tackled the status in the Mediterranean Sea area cooperation and the coming meetings of the foreign ministers of the Barcelona declaration as well as the status in the Mediterranean Sea in addition to the bilateral relations.
Borg expressed his hope to meet the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak tomorrow, saying that he reviewd at his Egyptian counterpart the current stance concerning Malta's joining to the European Union and Malta's views as to its role as a future member to the European Union, referring to his country's adherence to play its Mediterranean role politically and economically.
He spoke of the necessity to revive the Barcelona's process and pushing forward the European - Mediterranean cooperation as well as boosting the bilateral cooperation fields between Malta and Egypt including in research, cultural cooperation and humanitarian development.
