Al-Assad, King Abdullah review bilateral relations and regional developments

Talks held between Syria's President Hafez al-Assad and Jordan's King Abdullah on Sunday dealt with several issues pertaining to the ME peace process, Arab conditions and relations between the two states.
The Jordanian King arrived in Damascus on Sunday noon and was welcomed at the airport by President Hafez al-Assad. He was also welcomed by the Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro, the foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and the Jordanian charge de 'affairs in Damascus.
Also the Jordanian King was received by the two deputies for the Syrian prime minister, the Cabinet ministers and the governor of Damascus, and then the two leaders headed for the al-Shaab palace in Damascus.
Upon arrival at the presidential palace, the two leaders held a meeting. It was attended, on the Syrian side by Prime Minister Miro, the Foreign Minister al-Shara, the minister of the Interior Muhammad Harba, and the Minister for Presidential Affairs Haitham Dweihi. On the Jordanian side, the meeting was attended by the chairman of the royal court Fayez al-Trawenah, Lt. Gen. Samih al-Bateikhi, the Foreign Minister Abdul Elah al-Khatib, the minister of the interior, the director of the economic department at the Royal court and the Jordanian charge de affairs in Damascus.
Then this plenary meeting was followed by a close-door meeting between President Hafez al-Assad and the Jordanian King.
Talks dealt with several issues relating to the peace process, its developments and the situation it has reached, current contacts regarding it. Talks also dealt with conditions on the Arab arena and the development of relations between the two sisterly countries Later, President al-Assad held a luncheon banquet in honor of the Jordanian King and his companions.
Later in the afternoon, the Jordanian King and his companions left Damascus and were seen off by President al-Assad, the prime minister, his two deputies and several cabinet ministers.
