Garang assures his adherence to the Egyptian - Libyan initiative

John Garang, the leader of the Sudan People's Liberation Army urged the Sudanese government to abandon its method of ruling the country, assuring his adherence to the Egyptian - Libyan initiative for solving Sudan's problem, saying that Egypt's role is important in any Sudanese settlement.

He also spoke about his proposals concerning means of merging the joint Egyptian - Libyan initiative with the I.G.A.D initiative, emphasizing that the opposition does not intend now to launch attacks on Khartoum, adding that the negotiation with the Sudanese government is very difficult because it does not intend to achieve a progress.

Garang urged President El-Bashir and El-Torabi to end their disputes as soon as possible, emphasizing that the destructive effect of their disputes on Sudan.
