Baghdad: US- British warplanes continue striking civilian targets
Iraq-USA, Politics, 5/19/2000
Iraq said on Thursday that the US warplanes continue, day and night striking the Iraqi civilian targets, noting that the last attack " carried out by the enemy was that on Wednesday when one child was killed and four people wounded."
The spokesman for the Iraqi air defense forces Yassin Jasem told journalists on Thursday that Iraq still turns on its Radar systems against the US warplanes which violate the Iraqi airspace. Earlier this month, a US statement quoted US Pentagon officials as saying that the US forces did not use the HARM missiles recently because Iraq has stopped turning on its Radar system against the US planes.
There was talk of reports on Iraq having developed a method that defeats the HARM missile which are designed to lock in on radar systems as a target when a radar is turned on.
