Lebanon-Egypt, Politics, 5/19/2000
Lebanese President Emile Lahoud on Thursday at Baabda residential palace received the Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebeid and members of his ministerial delegation. Ebeid conveyed a message from the Egyptian President to President Lahoud.
The two sides reviewed latest developments in the region, and bilateral relations.
President Lahoud expressed thanks to President Mubarak over Egypt's backing to Egypt in rebuilding the electricity power stations in Lebanon destroyed by the Israeli aggression.
Ebeid said in a statement following the meeting with President Lahoud that the message sent by President Mubarak to President Lahoud in a message of backing and support to Lebanon for restoring back all its national territories.
Ebeid stressed that Egypt's President, government and people adopt the Lebanese official stand on the need of Israel's complete withdrawal from the Lebanese air, sea and land, including the Shebaa farms and dismantling the Lahd militia collaborating with Israel.
In a statement to the Lebanese daily al-Safir issued on Thursday, Ebeid said that the land of Lebanon is not to be bargained or negotiated upon.
