Egyptian intellectuals call for reviving the UN resolution treating Zionism as racism
Egypt, Politics, 5/19/2000
The coalition of independent intellectuals in Egypt has called for revival of the UN resolution which classifies Zionism as a racist movement.
In a statement circulated in Cairo on Wednesday on the occasion of al-Nakba anniversary of the usurpation of Palestine), the coalition called on Arab establishments and individuals to provide the coalition with documents and information that would contribute to the struggle of the Palestinians, so as a file to be submitted to international sides, especially the anti-racism conference due to be held in South Africa next year. The coalition says that it aims by doing so to convince the world that the reasons that forced the UN to release its resolution 3379 for 1975 and what were stated in UN resolutions no. 1904 for 1963 and 3151 for 1973 are still valid and constitute the base for reintroducing Zionism as a racist movement, after all UN resolutions to this effect were canceled at the American pressure.
The statements also called for reconsidering of Arab- boycott of Israel which several Arab countries ceased to abide by.
The statement called every Arab citizen to refuse all forms of negotiations with the Zionist enemy, to boycott its commodities and all world companies backing or collaborating with Israel.
