New currency exchange center opened in Damascus

The Syrian minister of the economy and foreign trade Dr. Muhammad al-Imadi on Thursday opened a new branch for foreign currency exchange at the entrance of Souk al-Hamadeyah, as a measure to encouraging tourists at the beginning of the tourism season and in line with the issuance of recent legislative decrees, especially in the domain of encouraging investment.
In a statement to SANA, the director general of the Syrian Commercial Bank Mahmoud Mithqal said that the new branch is equipped with most advanced equipment to facilitate instant dealing with customers and foreign tourists, according to encouraging rates of currency exchange.
Mithqal added that at the instructions of the ministry of the economy this experience of opening bank branches for currency exchange will be expanded, noting that another branch will be open near al-Azem palace and in many other tourist areas and in several provinces so as to facilitate measures for the increasing the number of tourists arriving in Syria.
