The Palestinian president Yasser Arafat refused to accept the resignation of Yasser Abd Rabo who heads the Palestinian negotiating delegation in the final status negotiation. El-Taeb Abd El-Rahim, secretary of affairs of the Palestinian presidentship said that "President Arafat has complete trust in Abd Rabo." Rabo presented his resignation yesterday in a protest upon disclosure that there were additional Palestinian - Israeli negotiations being held in Sweden without his knowledge.

The speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Saadoun Hammadi, is to visit France from May 16-19 at the invitation of the Senate's France-Iraq friendship group, a French statement said. Saadoun Hammadi will have a working meeting with the secretary-general of the Quai d'Orsay on May 18 at which the discussions will focus on bilateral relations, the regional situation and relations between Iraq and the U.N.
