Algerian - Canadian trade is more than one billion dollars

The Algerian - Canadian trade in the past years has seen a continous increase and contacts between the economic operators within the legal framework governing the relations between the two countries, the official Algerian news agency reported.
Bilateral trade exceeded one billion Canadian dollars mark (1 Canadian dollar is worth 53 DA approximately) for the 4th consecutive year and showed a balance of the trade balance favourable to Algeria.
In February 1999,Algeria and Canadia signed agreement on the suppression of the double taxationto promote investment.
Canada's interest for the Algerian market was particularly visible at the time of its participation in the international fair of Algiers with companies working in a broad range of sectors. In 1999, Algerian exports to Canada reached Can$653.6 million against Can$ 552.2 million in 1998 and Can$ 610.6 million in 1997. The imports for the same years were of respectively Can$ 472.2 million, 545.3 million and 622.4 million, APS reported.
