Yemen, Politics, 5/16/2000

The Yemeni authorities on Monday stopped the Mobile telephone service in the framework of the strong security measures taken by the authorities before the convening of official celebrations which will be attended by several heads of states.

Officials at the Yemeni ministry of telecommunications said on Monday that halting of these services started as from Monday morning until a later notice and that this measure came in the framework of other security measures before holding the celebrations of the unity of the two parts of Yemen.

Worthy mentioning that Yemen celebrates the 10th anniversary of the unity of its two southern and northern parts on May 22.

The celebration will be attended by leaders and officials representing some 50 Arab and world countries.
