A celebration in al-Riyadh to distribute King Faisal Award

Under the patronage of the Saudi second deputy premier and defense minister Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, and acting on behalf of King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, King Faisal charity society on Sunday held a ceremony during which King Faisal's awards for the winners of the year 2000 were distributed.
The prize for serving Islam was given to the al-Azhar mosque in Cairo due to the services it gives to scholars and this prize was handed over to al-Azhar Sheikh Muhammad Sayed Tantawi.
The Islamic studies prize was awarded to Muhammad Maher Ali from Bangladesh for the study he presented in his book " the History of Muslims in Bengal." A book which is characterized of being objective and based on constructive criticism and analytical vision.
The Arab literature prize was shared between Abdul Latif al-Tayeb from Sudan and Ezz eddine Ismael Abdul Ghani from Egypt who had a study on ancient Arab literary criticism. The medicine award which was on " old-age" was given to the American Sentajin Kinyon who succeeded in recognizing two genes having links to " old age."
In the area of sciences the prize which was under the title " the science of biological life, the award was shared between Edward Odyon and John Krig from the USA.
Worthy mentioning King Faisal international prize is a patent bearing the name of the winner and a summary of his achievements that enabled him to win the prize and a 200g golden medal and a sum of 750,000 Saudi riyals.
Meantime, prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz inaugurated the project of al-Faisaleyah center in al-Riyadh. The center is owned by al-Faisal charity establishment and is on an area of 55,000 square meters.
The center contains the main tower which is called al-Faisaleyah tower which contains 30 storeys at a height of 266 meter and a total area of 3400 KM. It takes the shape of the Pyramid and its front is covered with stunned glass and aluminum.
Visitors of the tower will be able to see al-Riyadh from all directions because it continuously turns around.
The project also contains a shopping center and a five-star hotel of 9 storeys, a health club and a celebration hall that seat 4000 persons.
Worthy mentioning the total cost of this project is 1.2 billion Saudi riyals ( US $ 320 million).
