Bouteflika in Canada: we never forgot your support in difficult times
Algeria-Canada, Politics, 5/15/2000

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika arrived today in Canada and had remarks of thanks in response to the welcome given by Canadašs General Governor Mrs. Adrienne Clarkson.

"Algeria cannot forget Canada's attitude of understanding during these last years, which were marked in our own country by the development of terrorism and insecurity, resulting in our country's loss of the honorable place that it has been holding on the international scene."

"Your support during this hard test was appreciated considerably by Algerians, who will always have that in mind now that peace has been established gradually throughout the country and that we stick to a considerable reconstruction work based first and foremost on national reconciliation." Bouteflika said according the official news agency.

Bouteflika said this visit is intended to consolidate this friendship and to extend the field of our cooperation.
