Morocco-Germany, Health, 5/15/2000
An association of friends of the Hassan II foundation for the prevention and control of the nervous system diseases was set up this week end to raise funds to finance the purchase of hospital equipment and surgery tools.
The association groups, in addition to Moroccan surgeons, German figures, including chairman of the World brain-surgery federation.
Prof. El Khamlichi, chairman of the Foundation which will mark next November its 10th anniversary, said the association, set up to support the foundation, will raise funds for a rehabilitation center for children affected by brain conditions, a university library and other projects.
After similar associations in Canada and the USA, the Fund is also projecting other agreements with Spain and other countries.
The Foundation is also planning to sign technical and scientific cooperation agreements with German universities to start satellite and visual-conference contacts and trade experience between practitioners of the two countries.
The foundation chairman stressed that Morocco has made considerable progress in brain surgery, which earned it international recognition, citing as an evidence the choice of Morocco as host country for the 13th congress of the world brain-surgery federation.
