Some 32 million unemployed Arabs in the year 2010

The director general of the Arab Labor organization Ibrahim Qweider has stressed that Arab development process is facing tremendous challenges by the beginning of the third millennium and that production establishments and the Arab business men organizations are called on to carry out an important role in withstanding these challenges.
Qweider said that number of the Arab population reached 280 million inhabitants while it was 187 million in 1985, noting that the number of economically active population will increase from 98 million individuals in the year 2000 to 123 million in the year 2010, and that number of those who seek jobs during the coming decade will be more than 32 million.
Qweider said this issue is a matter which necessitates finding out new job opportunities and intensifying training in order to prepare and enroll the new generation into the labor market.
