Interior minister: observing law guarantees unity, national security

Minister of the interior Hojjatoleslam Abdolvahed Musavi Lari said Saturday "that officials' abiding by the law would strengthen unity among people which, in turn, would guarantee the national security," IRNA reported.
Lari added that "one should avoid describing one's personal viewpoints as the defense of the religious sanctities and using every possible means for materializing one's personal conceptions."
IRNA reported that Lari said "those who do not observe the unity norms and break the law fail to realize the meaning of the national unity." adding " the government is making exhaustive efforts to prepare the ground for national prosperity and growth through promotion of the national unity."
Lari said certain individuals' actions and statements are damaging to Iran's image.
Lari said expressed hope that the guardian council would determine the fate of elections in the Tehran constituency as soon as possible so as to remove the public concern over the elections, assuring that elections have been held in a sound atmosphere due to the strict monitoring task and sensitivity shown by the guardian council and the interior ministry during the polling.
Lari said referring to the closure of the pro-reform newspapers "what we want the judiciary to do is that it deal with any case within the framework of the national law," adding that any complaints against the press would be better to be dealt with in the presence of a jury. He called on the judicial system to hold the hearings for the banned newspapers and to determine their fates as soon as possible.as for coordination between relevant organizations, IRNA reported.
Lari said he was dissatisfied with the poor coordination and cooperation between the commander of law enforcement forces and security council and interior ministry adding the problem should be solved within the framework of the law. Lari those crisis-generating circles should be identified and dealt with so as to create a violence-free society, IRNA said.
