British foreign office secretary arrives in Damascus tomorrow

The British foreign office has announced that the Minister of state at the Foreign office Peter Hane will visit Syria on May 14 to hold talks with Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro and with the Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara.
An official statement made by the foreign office on Friday said that Hane's talks in Syria will deal with the latest developments concerning the ME peace process, especially on the Syrian track.
In a statement, Hane said that his visit to Syria comes at a critical phase of the Middle East peace talks. He added that in light of the recent and successive developments and events, efforts should be made to lessen to difficulties surrounding the peace process.
He stressed his country's readiness to make its utmost to help the peace process, noting that he is looking during his visit to Syria to find out means of developing British-Syrian relations.
He stressed that Israel's rejection to sign the Non Proliferation Treaty will complicate the peace process and anger the countries which signed the treaty.
Speaking before the British House of Commons on Friday, Hane said that Britain will exercise pressure on Israel for signing this Treaty.
