Luxor is to host on next Wednesday the conference of the Italian tourism companies union 'Fia Fit' which lasts for 5 days with the participation of more than 750 of travel agents and the Italian trip organizers as well as public relations professionals according to sources in the Egyptian tourism ministry. Egypt's Minister of Tourism Mamdouh El-Beltagi told ArabicNews.com that "there are Egyptian artistic and cultural evenings that will be held on the margin of these meetings in addition to organizing tourism trips for the participants in the conference to the areas of Taba, Nowaiba, Saint Cathrene and Aswan to visit the archeological and tourism spots in these Egyptian cities." Members of the Saudi delegation to the joint Saudi- Yemeni committee arrived in Aden on Tuesday to renew border marks. The committee is chaired by the director of the military department Lt. Gen. Murabba, Bin Hassan al-Shahrani to take part in the meetings of the 19th session of the committee which will be held in Aden. Al-Shahrani expressed his optimism over the success of works of the committee in line with the ambitions of the leadership of the two states. Go

Saudi sources expected receiving three million tourists per year especially when Saudi embassies across the world start to provide tourist visas to Saudi Arabia, saying that the hotel capacity is currently at 177,000 rooms and is expected to double in the coming 3 years, adding that the decision of granting the tourism visas will increase the occupation percentage in the Saudi hotels from 30% to between 50% - 60% without adding the percentage of the Moslem pilgrims. The Turkish daily al-Sabah said on Thursday that 30 men from the "Kurdistani workers party" were so far killed in the military operation, which is held by some 5,000 Turkish soldiers in North Iraq. The paper added that F-16 jets and Copra and Super Copra helicopters are taking part in this military operation which is being held in a depth ranging between 5 to 10 kilometers inside north Iraq. A statement issued by Amman stock market said the volume of the shares owned by the foreigners since the beginning of the this year till the end of the April reached 15 million Jordanian dinars representing 12.2% of the total dealing in the stock market during this period, referring that the Arab contribution in the stock market reached 16,5% in return of 9,6% for the non Arabs while the banking sector ranked first then the insurance sector, the services sector and finally the industry sector. Heavy fighting along the border between Ethiopia and Eritrea started today after the failure of a UN effort failed to resolve the differences between the two countries. Eritrea said in a statement today that "The Ethiopian regime has launched an offensive on the right and left flanks of the Mereb-Setit front today, 12 May 2000. The attack began shortly after midnight." Go
