Egyptian- Libyan joint committee to be convened within two months
Libya-Egypt, Economics, 5/12/2000

Contacts have been made to convene the meetings of the 3rd session of the joint Supreme Libyan- Egyptian committee under the chairmanship of the two states' prime ministers in Tripoli, within the two coming months.

Meetings of the said committee were not held since two years. Its last session was held in Cairo in 1998 and it was attended by President Hosni Mubarak and President Muammar al-Qaddafi, who presided over the final session.

The session's first meeting was held in the Libyan city of Tubroq in June 1997 during a visit made by the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. This visit was then coincided with Libya's celebrations of eliminating the last (foreign) military base from its territories.

Worthy mentioning, the Egyptian- Libyan committee is interested in increasing cooperation between the two states, doubling volume of joint investments and eliminating obstacles before joint trade movement.
