The parliament of the United Arab Emirates welcomed the Gulf Cooperation Council's formation to a trio committee to mediate between Emirates and Iran in order to reach a peaceful solution for Tehran's occupation to the Emirate Islands or raising the case at the international court justice.
The council assured through a message it sent to the Emirate's President Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan that "the three Islands occupied by Iran belong to the Emirate people no matter how long the occupation lasts."

The council also hailed Emirates' signing of a border agreement with Oman in May 1999 and forming a supreme committee with Qatar and Bahrain.
