Libyan, Philippines negotiators with Abi Sayyaf group failed

The two Libyan and Philippines negotiators returned back home after their first meeting with the rebels from Abi Sayyaf group which holds 21 hostages in Jolo island, without being able to bring back the German hostage whose health conditions have been greatly deteriorated.

AFP said that the chief negotiator Ghazali Ibrahim had announced to the press before he left to meet with the group that Abi Sayyaf separatist group agreed to receive him as well as to receive the Libyan ambassador in the Philippines Rajab Razzouq in a place which was not disclosed, SANA reported.

This is the first meeting for the team of new negotiators with Abi Sayyaf after first contacts were made with him Tuesday through a delegate .

The kidnappers have been holding hostages since April 23 some 21 including three Germans, two French and two Finnish and two from South Africa and one Lebanese woman.
