Defense requests bail-out and pronouncement in Adib case
Morocco, Culture, 5/10/2000
The Supreme Court should make a pronouncement in "reasonable time" on the case of captain Mustapha Adib, on a five-day hunger strike to press for a trial-review, said defense attorney Abderrahim Jamaa.
The lawyer told MAP Tuesday captain Adib went on a hunger-strike May 5 and that the move was announced in letters to the justice minister and the Supreme Court Chief justice.
Jamaa renewed his request to bail out his client pending a serious enquiry and he had a case of "defense rights violation."
Captain Adib was sentenced last Feb. 17 by the Rabat standing military tribunal to five year imprisonment for violating military orders and insult to the army, MAP reported.
