Arab League to meet over situation in Lebanon
Lebanon-Regional-UN, Politics, 5/5/2000
The Arab League will hold on Saturday a meeting of member states' ambassadors to look into the situation in Lebanon following the Israeli raids against civilian targets in south Lebanon.
Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid said he held a meeting in this regard with Lebanese Premier Salim Al-Hoss and Omani Foreign Minister Youssef Ben Alawi, who is currently chairing the Arab League's ministerial council.
The United Nations Organization described as "unacceptable" the Israeli raids conducted on Thursday against civilian targets. The UN secretary general's envoy, Terje Roed-Larsen, who arrived on Wednesday night in Lebanon, called Israel to stop military operations that threaten Lebanon's territorial integrity.
