King Abdullah of Jordan receives Moroccan vice-speaker
Jordan-Morocco, Politics, 5/5/2000

King Abdullah of Jordan met in Amman Abdelaziz Alaoui Hafidi, first vice-speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, who led Morocco's delegation to the 103rd session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Amman.

An official statement says Alaoui transmitted to the Jordanian monarch the greetings of King Mohammed VI.

The representative also reviewed with the speaker of the Jordanian Parliament, Abdelhafid Majali, means to develop relations between the two Arab states' legislative bodies.

During the IPU congress, Morocco called on the international community to endeavor to put an end to the Israeli occupation of Arab land and to lift the embargo on Iraq.

The Moroccan delegate dwelled on Morocco's efforts to have mutually- beneficial relations with all developing nations, recalling in this regard Morocco's decision to write off the debt of all African least developed nations, announced by King Mohammed VI during the Africa-Europe summit held in Cairo in early April.
