Israel kills two civilians, destroys five houses in south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 5/5/2000

One Lebanese citizen and her daughter were killed as a result of the Israeli bombardment of al-Qatrani town on Thursday morning. The Israeli bombardment also targeted Jabal al-Daher, Meimas crossing, the road leading to al-Qatrani town.

News reports from the western Bekaa said the two citizens who were killed in al-Qatrani town as a result of the Israeli bombardment were Almazah Masoud Asaad (86) and her daughter, Ilhad Asaad (40).

The ruler (mukhtar) of the town, Rimond Makhoul, appealed to the International Red Cross to come to the town and evacuate the two bodies.

The sources added that five houses in al-Qatrani town were greatly damaged as a result of the bombardment.

On Thursday evening the occupation forces expelled the family of freed prisoner Mustafa Qousan from the occupied al-Tibe town.

Lebanese security sources said the family is composed of the mother, Iman Sweid, and her three daughters. The Israeli forces had released Qousan together with other five prisoners from the al-Khiam jail earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces continued their aggressions against areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon and its western Bekaa.

Lebanese security sources said the occupation artillery targeted Jabal al-Zaatar, the outskirts of the towns of Barachit, Hadatha, Eita al-Jabal, Majdal Soloum, Khurbet Soloum, al-Sawaanah, al-Jemejmeh, and al-Qeseyeh valley in the central sector of south Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Israeli forces machine-gunned al-Salawqi valley and al-Hajir valley, the outskirts of Hadatha and Eita al-Jabal, while the Israeli warplanes raided the towns of al-Sultaniyeh and Kafer Donin.

In retaliation to the Israeli attacks against the Lebanese civilians, the Lebanese resistance said that on Thursday evening it attacked Kiryat Shemona settlement in Israel using Katyusha missiles.

Meanwhile, Israeli Radio said that at least one house was damaged as Katyusha missiles hit the area, close to the borders with Lebanon.

Israeli Radio said that more than 15 Israeli citizens were wounded as a result of the Katyusha attacks on the Israeli colonies, close to the borders with Lebanon.

The radio added that the missile attacks by the Lebanese resistance targeted at least five colonies and that the Israeli Army asked the settlers to stay in the shelters.

Meanwhile, Monte Carlo radio's correspondent in Israel quoted Israeli sources as admitting that one Israeli soldier was killed after the Lebanese resistance bombarded the Israeli and pro-Israel militia positions in south Lebanon.

The correspondent added that the bombardment of the Israeli settlement by Katyusha missiles came in retaliation for the Israeli bombardment of Lebanese civilians, which resulted in wounding of tens and the death of one elderly Lebanese woman and her daughter on Wednesday in south Lebanon.
