King Abdullah confers with speaker of Syrian parliament, voices backing for Syria

Jordan's King Abdullah II on Thursday in Amman received the speaker of the Syrian Parliament, Abdul Qader Qaddoura. The meeting was attended by the speaker of the Jordanian Parliament, Abdul Hadi al-Majali, and the Syrian charge de affairs in Amman Youssef Jum'aa.

Talks during the meeting dealt with works and activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), currently being held in Amman.

Earlier in the day, Qaddoura met with Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh.

Talks dealt with deliberations of the 103rd session of the IPU currently held in Amman, especially the additional item the Arab parliamentary group had succeeded to enroll at the agenda of the IPU conference on backing the rights of refugees and the evacuees because of wars and occupation and to help resettle them back in their homelands.

Talks also dealt with bilateral relations and means of strengthening them in all domains and issues of mutual concern.

Qaddoura conveyed Syrian President Hafez al-Assad's greetings and good wishes to King Abdullah. The king asked Qaddoura to convey reply greetings and good wishes to the president. The king also stressed Jordan's stand in backing Syria in the peace process.
