Arab observer praise procedures for Lockerbie trial
Regional-Libya-UK, Judicial, 5/4/2000
Nabeel El-Arabi, one of the international observers at the trial of the two Libyan suspects accused of being involved in blowing up a US passenger jet over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988, said the trial, which started yesterday in Holland, was very transparent and in a clear fashion.
He said the first day began by hearing the witnesses and the defense, saying in an interview with Egyptian radio that the international court took all procedures so that the trial will take place in a complete openness and in the attendance of representatives of the Libyan suspects' families, representatives of the victims' families, representatives of the Libyan government and international observers.
