Morocco, Sports, 5/4/2000
Acting chairman of the Moroccan association in charge of promoting the North African nation's bid to host the World Cup 2006 is currently touring member countries of the FIFA executive committee to win their support.
After visiting the African voters, namely Tunisia, Mali, Cameroon and Botswana, Driss Benhima visited Turkey and Norway. He is currently visiting Scotland part of the same drive.
Benhima said all the countries he visited showed understanding as to the legitimacy of the Moroccan candidacy.
Morocco, a three-time bidder, is campaigning against South Africa, England, Germany and Brazil to host the World Cup. FIFA's executive committee will select the host country next July.
