US: No-fly zone clashes yesterday and today
Iraq-USA, Military, 5/3/2000

The US European Command said that Iraq had fired anti-aircraft artillery from near Bashiqah at aircraft patrolling the northern Iraq "no-fly zone" yesterday and today. Both days it said, "Coalition aircraft responded to the Iraqi attacks by dropping ordnance on elements of the Iraqi integrated air defense system."

Meanwhile the US Central Command said yesterday that US and UK jets had struck an Iraqi radar position in southern Iraq, saying, "The coalition strikes came in response to surface-to-air missile launches against coalition aircraft."
