Mubarak to Al-Ghomhoria: Egypt would never give up its peace drive

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Sunday in statements to Al Gomhoria Editor-in-Chief Samir Ragab stressed that Egypt would never give up its peace drive and would maintain bidding to achieve just, comprehensive and permanent peace.

"Egypt will always seek to bridge gaps among the parties concerned whether on the Palestinian, Syrian or Lebanese tracks," Mubarak said.

Mubarak highlighted the necessity of pursuing this path because just peace is an objective we should exert our utmost efforts to achieve.

"We must be optimistic because nations aspire after peace and their aspirations will be realized," Mubarak added.

Taking up recent developments on the international scene, President Mubarak asserted that things are getting complicated within the framework of the globalization system.

Mubarak recalled that Egypt had achieved remarkable progress with regard to its development bid, naming, the writing off of Egypt's foreign debts, the building of new cities and factories for millions of workers as well as overcoming impediment to foreign investments.

He also gave prominence to projects established over the past 19 years and the special intention given to Upper Egypt.

Mubarak vowed to continue to safeguard Egypt's interests and those in the low income bracket.
