Morocco-Regional, Economics, 5/2/2000
The 7th permanent Mediterranean audio-visual conference held in Casablanca April 27-29 called for enhancing and intensifying exchanges between Mediterranean countries in audio-visual production.
The conference stressed the need to set up a multilateral partnership commission to improve the legal conditions of co-productions, a network of exchange of images at the level of all Euro-Mediterranean TV channels and to safeguard old archives.
Participants called for a plan for professional training for all audio-visual specialties and underlined the need to encourage the adherence of all Mediterranean TVs to the Eumedis program to consolidate the network of universities participating in this program through providing competencies and know-how for the development of tele-education.
They pointed to the necessity of reinforcing and adapting the financing mechanisms to the specificity of the Mediterranean cinema and invited private investors to contribute to the development of the Mediterranean motion picture.
They deemed that politics ought to back the distribution of Mediterranean movies in every country.
