Moroccan House of Representatives publishes translation of international humanitarian law
Morocco, Politics, 5/2/2000

The Moroccan House of Representatives has published for its members a translation in Arabic of the international humanitarian law guide, in keeping with commitments it took during the 1999 session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The announcement was made at a training session held April 28-30 by the Maghreban office of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The ICRC regional delegate said the translation will be available to all Arab parliamentarians.

The guide makes a survey of the United Nations charter's provisions on human rights, makes a distinction between an international armed conflict and a non-international armed conflict, guarantees offered by the international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians in times of war.
