Moroccan unions call for lifting seige on Moroccan Sahrawis
Morocco, Politics, 5/2/2000
Five Moroccan trade unions called Monday for lifting the siege imposed by the Polisario separatists on Moroccan Sahrawis sequestered in the Tindouf camps (southwestern Algeria).
The call was made by the Democratic Labor Confederation (CDT), the Moroccan Labor Union (UMT), the General Union of Morocco's Workers (UGTM), the National Union of Morocco's Workers and the Union of Free Workers (UNSTL), during a rally held Monday in the Moroccan southern city of Laayoune.
The unions renewed the labor class' attachment to Morocco's territorial integrity and called on the international community to intervene for lifting the seige imposed on the Moroccan Sahrawis sequestered in Tindouf.
