Russian envoy for Middle East peace to arrive next week

The Russian Embassy in Cairo announced Moscow's intention to send a special envoy to push forward the peace process in the area, especially on the Syrian- Israeli track.
A statement issued by the embassy said that Nicolai Kartozov, the former ambassador to Iraq, was chosen for this assignment, adding that Kartozov will hold several meetings in Damascus, Tel Aviv, Cairo, Beirut, Amman and Gaza to discuss the situation in the area on all levels.
Some Egyptian diplomatic sources hope that Moscow will return to its natural role as one of the peace process sponsors in the area.
