Arab concerns at the Amman Inter-Parliamentary Union conference
Regional, Politics, 5/2/2000
The Jordanian weekly al-Majd said that the Syrian and Iraqi parliamentary delegations taking part at the conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union are making contacts with Arab parliamentary delegations with the objective of preventing the convening of normalization meetings between these Arab delegations and the Israeli delegation taking part in the conference.
The weekly quoted parliamentary sources as saying that the Syrian and Iraqi forces fear, in particular, the possibility of convening political meetings between members of the Yemeni delegation and the Israeli delegation or between members of the Arab Gulf delegation and the Israeli delegation.
