Syrian information minister inspects IT exhibition, urges double efforts

Syrian Minister of Information Adnan Omran on Sunday visited the 6th exhibition for information technology (IT) and communication, "Shaam 2000," organized by the Syrian Computer Society.

The minister toured the pavilions of the Syrian Ministry of Information, including those of Tishreen, al-Thawra and al-Baath newspapers, SANA, the Arab Advertising Establishment, the radio and TV station, and the general establishment for distributing the press.

In a statement to SANA's correspondent at the conclusion of his tour, the minister expressed deep pride over the exhibits of the exhibition, saying that the "exhibition as a whole tells the story of the real struggle in Syria in order to move into a very progressive phase in information technology."

The minister remarked that the new government is determined to have information technology (IT) as means and element to accelerate development activities pursued by the new Syrian Cabinet since its foundation, "thanks to the sublime directives put by President al-Assad to the Cabinet since its establishment."

He concluded: "What I have seen proves that we are proceeding on the right path and, on the other hand, necessitates, that we have to double our efforts," adding, "The development process the new government built on, and works in light of the president's directives in order to take Syria to the new century as strong and solid and to overcome all past difficulties and adverse points," SANA reported.
