Egypt helps combatting Malaria
Egypt-Africa, Health, 4/29/2000
"President Hosni Mubarak is aware of the tragic dimensions of Malaria in Africa," said Minister of Health and Population Ismail Sallam.
"Egypt is placing all its potentials at the service of the initiative on combatting this endemic disease," he added.
This came in statements made by Sallam following his return from Nigeria after having led the country's delegation to the African Summit held in Abuja on April 24-25 on Malaria.
"President Mubarak recognizes health as a basic part of Africa's development drive," asserted the Minister.
Sallam said he expounded to participants the Egyptian experience in combatting Malaria.
Malaria claims the lives of some one million African people, mostly children per year.
